A purely Iraqi trial of Saddam would be a mistake - his crimes have victims in many countries. Not least among the reasons for international participation is the fact that allowing counsel from Iran and Kuwait to prosecute Saddam in a fair trial would greatly boost the cause of reform in those countries.
