To Time
03 October 2002
Sir,
You suggest in your October 7 issue that convicted perjurer Lord Archer of Weston-super-Mare is, by his return to a higher security prison, being treated just like other prisoners. This is not strictly true. His sentence of four years is extremely high and the only comparable sentences are for perjury in very serious criminal cases. He lied about sex in a civil case. I do not recall Time suggesting that four years in jail was too lenient for another politician who did the same.
Yours truly,
Quentin Langley
