Knight Ridder, the second largest newspaper chain in the US is up for sale. The company owns papers in Miamia and Philadelphia, as well as a consortium that sell advertising space and shares content across a much wider group.
According to The Economist, one of the weaknesses of the group is that it does not include a major national title that drives readers to its website. Some of the upcoming news websites today are aggregators, like Huffington Post, which bring together news and comment from a range of content sources.
Surely the solution is for Knight Ridder to establish a news website aggregating stories from its nationwide network.
