Daniel Finkelstein has written an excellent piece in today's Times about Britain's absurd, outdated, Sunday trading laws. I reacted smugly, as most bloggers would. Surely, I said to myself, people don't still GO to supermarkets, do they? Surely everyone has things delivered these days? What do they think the internet is FOR?
I smugged too soon. Tesco.com has restricted Sunday delivery hours - covering just five hours when the stores are open for six - and Ocado does not deliver on a Sunday at all.
If even .coms are living in the dark ages, what hope is there for the rest of British retailing?
