Sanford for President

Wouldn't it be great if the US could find a President who actually wanted to control spending and eliminate pork and corruption? If he wanted to improve education too - although that is not really the President's job - it would be even better.

There is a potential candidate: Mark Sanford, governor of South Carolina. But taking everything I have read about him he seems to lack the political skills - and very probably the desire - to be President. This would put him on the same list as Dick Cheney: the 'if only' list.

The occasional glowing review in the Wall Street Journal is, sadly, not enough to get someone elected.
