Syria - the deadline tightens

Al Jazeera is speculating that the Iraq war is about to spill over into Syria.

Meanwhile, two Syrian government ministers have publicly "slipped" and described the death of the Interior Minister as an "assassination" while the official government line remains that he committed suicide. Of course, it is possible that they did so because they want people to know that the minister was murdered as part of an official policy to intimidate dissidents. The murder was, after all, not very well covered up. Perhaps the point is to accidentally on purpose reveal the truth.

But there is another explanation. If the line is that this was suicide and key ministers are publicly - if "accidentally" - breaking the line, it could be that the Syrian government is imploding.
